Today, we will celebrate Go Red for Women in Minnesota at the Evening of Empowerment event. My fellow Go Red Woman of Impact nominees and I, along with 20 heart disease survivors, will mark 20 years of Go Red for Women’s work to raise awareness, improve health equity, and research women’s unique heart disease risks, symptoms, and treatment.
I’ve worn many red dresses in my 11 years of working with Go Red for Women, and I’m excited to don my red again tonight and honor those like me who live with heart disease, and especially those who did not. After 20 years of effort, heart disease remains the number 1 killer of women.
